dumb question re. the xd11

there is no on/off switch...is there?

it seems the meter is active only when my finger is on the shutter release...correct?

There's no on/off switch, the shutter release has a touch-sensor on it. As long as your finger is on it and is not too dry (or wearing gloves) it'll activate. If it doesn't, part-press to activate the meter. Try not to leave the shutter cocked whilst the camera is in a bag, it's easy to fire accidentally when taking it out (guess how I know this!).

I loved my XD-7 (or 11 in the US). I should have never sold it. But then again I wouldn't use it, because I love my Olympusses/Olympuses more...
