Dust in a lens

I got a question about dust in a Leica Summicron. I read about some lenses, that where described with "a little dust" in the lens. I know, that it's caused in the type of oil that Leica used for some time in their production. I also heard, that "a little dust" is ok, and that it is not a bigger damage and you can't see it in the pictures you take with it. My question, is it really ok? Will the dust get "thicker" and the lens will become blind? Does anybody of you got experience with a dusted Summicron?

I live in a dusty part of the world, and the stuff gets everywhere no matter what precautions I take. Dust in a lens has not been a problem for almost half a century, though.

Oil from the aperture blades and dust are two separate issues. Lenses are not hermetically sealed so sooner or later dust is going to get inside, no matter i=f it's Leica, Canon, Pentax or FED. Dust has never hurt anything.

Thanks for your replys. Maybe I'll give it a try. I can buy a 50mm Summicron rigid with light dust for about € 350,-

Just make sure it's actually dust, not haze or fungus. Not everyone selling camera gear knows the difference.

It would be nice if they did.
