I'm a little fed up with the quality of the scans I can easily find locally, plus they're low res (usually around 1MB). I'm mostly shooting BW400CN, plus 400UC when I can find it.

How does Dwayne's do for scans? The prices are reasonable.

Before I bought my Nikon scanner, I had tried several different C41 processing and scanning services. I found that the Fuji Frontier machines are capable of beautiful scans, but they're typically on auto at your local drug store, so they end up being awful. I tried Dwayne's - decent, but disappointing color correction. I tried Dale Labs, high resolution, but poor color balance. The best results were from A&I, a Frontier scan, but a really nice color balance. I used the mailer, and asked them to scan instead of printing. It worked great. That, in my experience, was the best of the entry-level mail order processing and scanning services. Fortunately, we have a couple of really decent local labs. One, in particular, uses the Agfa D-Lab, and they do a fantastic job scanning color negative. Hope this helps.
