Not to get too off-topic, but I agree about the costs of film processing aggregating over time. I'm not in a place where I can develop my own stuff right now, and the costs add up very quickly.

Sorry Morgan, but I don't get it.

What kind of place do you have to be to develop your own B&W rolls? A table with: a changing bag, a jug of water and a couple of bottles to keep the chemicals, then a shower curtain rod with a few clothespins for hanging the film.

That's how I do it anyways 🙂

Well, we live in a very small apt and my wife really hates the chemicals around. I don't have a great place to mix anything and she'd be pissed if I were using our bathroom sink. If I were single, I could do it, but in our current situation, it's not really going to work 🙂

For me, the fun of film is making prints, and I haven't been able to find a good community darkroom thing around here yet. So I might as well save some money and shoot more digital.

I miss the basement of my previous residence...

Good for them, but not NIkon, Nor Canon, Nor even Pentax were ever OUT of the game. That's the difference.

Minolta went bankrupt, and probably Olympus would hadn't choose the right decisions.

But this makes clear where Olympus stands in terms of research scope, economic might and prospects guarantees. I think it is good another guy is in the neighbourhood further pressing overall prices down.

But a new Olympus system? Be my guest, not for me.

I feel for you, man. Maybe a band of like-minded individuals in your area can pool resources to build a darkroom. I'm trying to do the same locally.

And I agree that printing is so much fun and rewarding. I use my guest bathroom upstairs to place my enlarger, don't know what will happen when we really have guests staying 😀
