Ease my mind re: US customs

I bought a lens from another forum site. It was deliverd from Canada to Chicago in two days. That was on November 18th. Since then there have been no tracking updates and the lens sits in customs.
Any experiences as to how soon I can hope to get my package?

I've posted a lot of stuff to different locations in the US and have only experienced delivery delays twice, both times at Chicago customs, and both times it took about two weeks for the item (in both cases it was a lens) to clear customs. I suspect there's a Leica user working there who likes to take gear out for a test spin before he forwards it onward. Just kidding, I don't have any idea why the delays occurred as no explanation was offered.
