Hi guys!

I have two cameras and two lenses that I want to sell on eBay. I say eBay rather then selling it locally in my country because I think I could fetch a quite a bit higher price on the huge international eBay market.

Thing is, I have never sold anything on eBay before, my question is, specifically about PayPal I think, which is the standard, trusted, "good", way of doing it? I read this post just now that says don't sell stuff marked as "gift" I thought OK that's good, but what more do I need to learn and know?

If I sell a camera for say $1000 USD I'd like to do it safe and sound, is shipping as "Goods" the way to do it then?

Etc etc. Let me know everything I should know, and things I should do as regards to the eBay auction and PayPal paying/receiving money.

And what about customs to various places? If I send it as a low amount item what happens? Rather then the actual value of the item I am sending what are the potential ins and outs of that?

CHEERS.

You could learn how things work by selling an inexpensive item first. (I haven't sold anything on eBay.)

I stopped selling on Ebay years ago.

It's been called "EPray" for a lot of reasons. The deck is stacked against sellers, so a lot of small time sellers pulled out and the large-volume sellers stayed in.

I sold ~200 items over the first few years, 1999-2006 or so. After that: I stopped. Too much risk for more expensive items.

I have a small camera store on eBay, and I do well enough with it. It makes me enough money to keep myself in gear, as i'm not good enough of a photographer to make money with my photographs.

Keep in mind that as a new seller with no feedback you likely to have trouble getting top-dollar for your goods. It takes time and sales to build up positive feedback and trust. Don't sell to anyone who doesn't pay with Paypal, describe your goods accurately, and ship your packages with tracking.
