eBay article on rangefinders

Impressive, first time description matches the product on ebay! Even FED was mentioned :)

A rangefinder camera incorporates a high ISO (light sensitivity) and allows the photographer to capture amazing detail. Most of these cameras include high enough detail that a photo can be cropped at 100 percent magnification and the resulting image can then posted online with sufficiently high-quality resolution. Most regular digital cameras cannot achieve that kind of detail.

That's what I thought. Some ad copywriter interviewed someone, or read something, took some notes, and tried to throw an article together. The part that Keith quoted, was exactly where I stopped reading.

That's exactly when I lost interest and closed it also. :p

Yup...I pretty much stopped right there too...

There's plenty of stuff out there of questionable (or worse) accuracy. Not a rangefinder, but after reading this article about Hasselblads, I learned, (amongst other things), that the original 1600F was replaced by the 1000F:
"...which had an even faster minimum shutter speed of 1/1000 sec."

Also, that the 500 series was:
"...born out of Victor Hasselblad’s quest to develop a smaller camera with faster lenses and shutter...".

The same article also has a picture of a 1000F that looks an awful lot like a 500C/M, to me. They're not interested in correcting it, I contacted them and they prefer to delete feedback on accuracy no matter how constructive it is.

Hi,

Interesting, my theory is that it's like a packet of sweets, the more you share with the less they get. And think how many you are sharing with on the internet...

eBay writes these articles when sales are slow in a particular area. Maybe now's the time to make a bold Best Offer on that M6 you've been craving. :D

I never knew about these buyers guides on the auction site -- they're great fun! Here's one that explains the pros and cons of full frame sensors. You know it's all true, because the writer read about it in "Popular Camera" magazine.

Hi,

The interesting thing to me is that I take the word 'full' to mean holding as much as it was designed for. So the amount could be a pint of beer or 250cc of wine or 20 galls of diesel but never a fixed amount.

Here, however, full means 24 x 36mm and no other size which means my APS, MF and LF cameras are not full frame even though ....

It just shows what an evil influence marketing and the internet are on the pure unvarnished truth. And the people who write it and the people who believe it are allowed to vote!
