eBay seller warning - eBay Seller ID: 30071949antique

Not sure where to post this. I know that eBay is not always the most popular around here but I thought I would warn others nonetheless. I purchased a described fully functional Rollei 35S from this HongKong based seller, whose shutters won't open when fired (yes I know how it works for this camera). The seller is being very difficult about the return and abusive, to the point where he won't send me an address for return of the item becuse "I may be a hacker or send a bomb". So please stay clear of this one...

I would add that I have had great eBay experiences with other far east seller - Thailand, Japan, Hong Kong so this is just to report a rotten apple...

Go through the automated return process>Other actions>return this item> Item is not as described. It should give you a png of a paid return label to print out and affix to the package. Seller will pay return postage, and you will be refunded by pay pal.

As I understand it.

"Vintage Rollei 35S Chrome Camera - This camera is tested in proper working order in cluding the LIGHT METER. Shutter speeds from B, 2, 4, 8, 15, 30, 60, 125, 250 and 500 sound correct. Apertures from 2, 8, 4, 5.6, 8, 11, 16 and 22 move freely. It comes with the hand strap and HOYA 30.5 mm filter."

If the shutter doesn't open it is not as described, don't say "it's defective" in the options, say "not as described".

Thanks for the help. The automated response doesn't give a full address and it seems clear to me the seller is already trying to position himself to claim that I have damaged the camera. So I am going to have to involve eBay support to make sure they are part of the return process...:bang::bang::bang:

Yes, open a case. Not As Described. In a conflict, they'll probaby just refund you. Remember, this Happens All The Time, Day After Day. ebay knows the deal.

Interesting how they have a contact seller within 14 day return policy, then say "The buyer has 7 days to return the item (the buyer pays shipping fees). The item will be refunded."

Open a case, ebay will tell you to wait such and such to escalate to a claim, just escalate it in an hour, with an explanation that the item is not as described, and you want to return it, but the seller won't tell you their address. That should do it, *I think*. Once you open a case, the money is not leaving paypal until they decide. Whatever happens, get tracking on the return.

Ranchu is right. You need to go through the eBay "Item not as described process". You should follow this process to the letter and remain calm - it can take a while for this to complete and avoid any direct contact whatsoever with the seller (eBay does that for you). You will most likely get a refund if you do all of this.

Also, do not return the item if and until eBay tells you to - they may or may not request this. Anything that arrives not as described in eBay basically gets a refund, regardless of what the seller wants or states. Not "as described" is judged by the buyer, not the seller. Sellers on eBay are not the favored party in disputes - the system is totally tilted towards favoring the buyer, if they follow the process, so don't worry.

Thanks for the reassurance. It's aggravating enough getting a beautiful camera that *almost* works but when the seller acts like an a**hole it does add insult to injury...

I think everybody's been there. I was thinking, you should say the seller was 'uncooperative', and wouldn't give you their full address. That's a good word imo.
