I decided to buy a set of solar powered string lights so I can decorate my front porch for Xmas.
Found a seller on ebay that ships from the US and that had an appropriately sized string of lights that weren't too expensive and bought and paid through paypal.

Order went through, the seller left me positive feedback right away.

Then, yesterday, I got a message from ebay that the order was cancelled and my money refunded. The stated reason was that "there was something wrong with my address". I thought that they sold more than they had really but, the money was back in my paypal account so, a bit dissapointing but no big deal.

Now the weirdness:
Sometime overnight I got another message from ebay--a shipping notice. With a USPS tracking number. ??
I initially thought that those messages are probably automated and didn't think much about it.

I was at my house most of the day finishing up the painting we want to do before we moved in, except around noon--I left to go have some lunch.
Just looked at my email and there was another ebay message. This one tells me that the package was delivered. Today. ???

I haven't clicked on any of the links in the various emails but I did type the tracking number into USPS' own site and they are also showing that the package was delivered. To my front porch. Just about the time I was gone.

I didn't see anything on my porch and the only place a small package might be where I wouldn't see it is the old milk box that's the only thing, beyond my welcome mat, on the porch now. Going to have to check that tomorrow but I'm not driving back over tonight.

I have changed my paypal password and do not have my ebay account set up so paypal is pre-signed in and the minimal amount I tend to keep as a balance there is there.

Should I be worried about this or is this evidence that ebay tracking (and the USPS!) is utter BS? Or, did I just get an early Xmas present from the seller?

So, after a phone call to my local post office, the tracking number I got was for someone else's package.
No big deal, just a bit of weirdness.
