My hard disks were ready to burst. We were at the point of having to go out and purchase some more - probably in the form of some sort of NAS, since the mobo is already fully loaded.

But then I had a trawl through what we have, deleting the crap I'll never look at again, all the duplicates, especially the rolls where I have hi-res scans of the whole roll, and two worthwhile shots.

And I freed up a massive 30GB of space!

That'll do until the summer, easily.

Good for the wallet, indeed.

I find it makes one a better photographer as well...though personally, I tend to edit away rather harshly and haven't saved all the negs i've wanted to through the years of moving, etc. It's almost as if once I get past the point of creating the image, my interest is lost completely.

You could also burn to disc and store in a fire proof safe...it's what a friend of mine does.

I've noticed that I tend to be the same way.

I rarely go back and look at the stuff I've shot before; I shot it fer cryin' out loud, I know what it looks like. I'm much more interested in the next photo. I only worry about keeping track of the shots I really, really like or my adoring public <SLAP> ... ahem, I mean, my friends and family really like.

I force myself to review every so often to make sure I haven't missed any diamonds-in-the-rough, but the majority of the crap I've shot in the past is still crap today.
