The 120 CHS 25 I received yesterday is batch 121027 Exp. 09.2014

I'm going to miss the Efke films, I loved them all they worked very well with Neofin Blau or Rodinal 1:50
This is the 35mm 100 speed in Rodinal

sharp well defined grain.

Very hard to master, but once you worked out you can't treat them like normal mono and overexpose, and they like surface type developers then the results were superb.

Freestyle just called me, they got what will most likely be the last order of Efke film and paper in today. So unless you want to pay 2-3x on eBay, order up!

Efke films were nice if you prefer cheap, old fashioned (ok, classic..) soft and sometimes pinholed and faulty emulsions.

Instead of Efke 25/50 you still have for example PanF+ which is just as quirky to expose & develop but looks a lot better than Efke 25 when you get it right.

Efke 100 was never anything extraordinary IMO.

For those who like to shoot IR you still have for example Rollei IR 400 which is a modern clear base film from Agfa. Heck, you can even shoot the plain vanilla Rollei Retro 400S with a 720nm IR filter and get nice IR results. Efke IR films were really slow (like 0,5-1 ASA with filter), soft and generally a pain to handle.

This has been discussed many times here already.

Even if they still were to produce some B&W film, apart from Acros 100 I couldn't see what they would make so far, because the demise of Neopan 400, Neopan 1600, Neopan 100SS have been officially confirmed.
So, that's it. No more Fuji B&W films. This is something we ought to live with.

Could you please point out where Fuji says they no longer will be making B&W film? Aside from motion films they recently discontinued?

I've read a few claims for this, but have been able to find zip official word on it.

Freestyle just shipped my order with all the Efke that I ordered ... sheet film, 20 rolls of 120 and 300ft of KB100.

Seeing as how it was now or never, I ordered a bunch of Efke film from Freestylephoto in a variety: 25, 50, and 100 ISO in 135 and 120 format. Their web site says stock is low on the R25 in 120, but they took my order for 20 rolls, which is cool - I like that film.

I've received an email from them saying the order shipped.

That is much more than I would normally order at one time given the cost, but I knew it would be my last batch and I wanted to have enough on hand to last a couple years. What was unexpected, and frankly very disappointing, was the short the expiration date on these - 2013-3. That's only 6 months! I don't know if the batch I received just happened to be some left over older stock, or if the last production run of all the IR film was really a while ago. In any event, the lot number was 111007.

For what it's worth, I just received my order of R25 (also in 120) from Freestyle today. Those were dated a more reasonable 2014-4 (lot 121024)

IR films typically have very short shelf-life. Even Kodak's IR film always had short dates like that.

I'm going to have to ask for a run to the Raleigh area. They have a few rolls of Efke in stock. Hopefully they won't all be gone when I get there. This is another film I never got to shoot & now time seems to be running out.🙁

I would not be surprised if the 25ASA films are still fine a decade after expiring. I would probably not be in a rush to use them all by 2014.

Efke 25 in 35mm or in bulk you can probably keep 20 years. Efke 25 in 120 roll film, due to the backing paper maybe 10 years.
IR820 is also limited, 5 years or so.

Best is to put them all in a freezer.

I was away on holiday when this news broke, but yesterday I managed to get some CHS 100 in 120 from Silverprint (UK). Unfortunately there was no CHS 25 left, except in 10x8... I almost considered going large format at that point.

They still have a handful of rolls of 100 and 50 in 120 left if anyone is still looking.

I'm still in mourning at the loss of CHS 25 😡

Finally got around to picking up my Efke order from Freestyle from the post office yesterday.

The 120 R100 is marked 02/2014 and the 100ft rolls of KB100 are marked 02/2015. The sheet film is marked 09/2014.

It's now getting a little squeezy in my freezer but I'm very glad to have in there what I was able to afford before the hammer fell.
