Ektar metered at ISO 25

Juan, sorry I'm not a lens guy, but that is a great image. Why did you decide to go 2 stops overexpose? I do this all the time with B&W but I develop my own.
 
I expose all my color negative generously, usually at near +1 1/2 (+2 because of the warming filter). I liked how Gabriel, one of my twins born in 2009 had placed his little arms... I like the image too, thanks!

Well, nice looking kid, maybe I'll see them when I'm in Barcelona. Just how did you decide to overexpose C-41? I do it too, but by accident.
 
Not sure what kind of camera bodies you use so I will likely be way off base here. But assuming you use an M-mount body of some kind I will guess its a 28mm Summicron.

I appreciate your kind words... I like RFF because I learn a lot here... Both photographic and human things... People are kind and don't hate me too much: just the little bit I deserve sometimes...:)

About the lens used, I guess it wouldn't be easy such defocusing with a 28, but I'm not sure... Filling the frame with his head with a 28 could be tough too and would require being too close...

I started to use color negative after "all my life" with B&W and slide film... I just liked the light table or projecting too much... I guess when I tried color negative I was already a pro photographer (I mean after my career) and had heard several times color negative film requires at least +1 both while studying and later from other photographers... I've tested a few films since and I prefer results between +1 and +2... It can be a comfortable media because it doesn't burn highlights quickly as slide film... But with AE at box speed it can easily be underexposed and produce muddy and grainy shadows and pale colors, so I meter it incident.

Another thing I've seen is fast negative film has to be real fresh for good color, and requires careful refrigeration... Real fresh means a lot of months or one year before expired...

And I gain no speed pushing: I can get contrast and saturation, but even after a Push2, I hardly get 1/3-1/2 stop more speed, so I meter it respectfully...

Well I tried. One more shot. I learned something again from you. Its obviously something longer and/or faster than a 28 cron. My final guess (then I'll leave it to the pro's here) is a 50mm Summilux.

Looking at the bokeh it definitely looks "Leica" to me. But others are more proficient at this so this is my final guess. 50 Lux.

By the way. If you are in Spain you definitely must be a hoot owl. It must be 3 or 4 a.m. over there.

Your 50 lux guess was close...

The lens used was the Nikkor 50 1.4 Ai at 1.4. It has a much longer focus throw than the following Ai-S version. At 1.4 it is sharp and soft for portraits at the same time. And I like its bokeh too...

I shot 3 rolls of Ektar yesterday. This shot is from my Nikon F5 on Program mode so I don't know what the settings were. When I finish scanning the other shots from my M3 I'll post one, I shot the M3 at 250 Speed @ half step below F/11, so, only 1/2 step overexposed.

Kind words! Yes, they're 18 months now... Yesterday I got them their first Rolling Stones t-shirt with a huge Warhol's tongue... I'm teaching them the most important things in life from the beginning! :D

Great shot!! And beautiful kids! My daughter is 19 now, but I remember when she was that little. Wish I had been into photography more back then, I never got photos like this.

No. If you have blue sky it will be perfect. Color negative is made to hold overexposure in a different way than other films...

Shoot at +1 1/2 or +2 with warming filter... If I have the sun right behind me I use +1, and if it's coming from one side I use +2...

What to do if you do not have a warming filter? Can you still overexpose?
 
Sure, give it +1 or +1 1/2. But if you don't have direct sun on your subject, the warming filter is necessary... It's better than correcting in Photoshop...
