Electro 35 GSN design flaw?

Hello Yashica aficionados,

I recently bought a mint Electro 35 GSN for $25 and it's been a joy to use.
My question regards a problem I've encountered twice: it stops advancing film after 24 exposures, yet the film counter goes to 36. After exposure 24 with 36-exposure film, the film-advance lever only moves to maybe half way and then locks. The rewind crank also locks. I can push the release button to unlock the film-advance lever and allow it to complete its travel, resetting the shutter, but the film remains at #24 resulting in double or multiple exposures, if I continue snapping. Is this a design flaw or is my Electro messed up?
Is there an easy fix or do I just limit this camera to 24-exposure film? /o:

Thanks for any help,

David

I´m sure there is something wrong inside.
First check if the camera does the same with or without film.
IMHO you should take out the upper cover to check if something blocks the film counter. Probably, all the problem is located in the mechanism that sorrounds the film advance lever, where also the film counter is located.

Check Yashica guy website for instructions on how to disassembly the camera and good luck!

Check if the little counter reset pin in the upper right side behind the door can move freely. When replacing the light-seals its easily overlooked and covered by the new seal...

Thanks for your replies.
The problem only occurs, twice now on 36-exposure rolls, with film. Sans film, I can snap and wind away until the counter reads 36, and still winds after reaching 36.
That's why it's puzzling it has stopped twice now after 24. There are no winding anomalies besides that.
And why would the rewind crank lock too? Doesn't want to budge foreward or backward, same as the fim-advance lever.
The film counter does reset when I open the door.
I guess I'll attempt surgery. Not sure what I'm looking for but that's why it's called exploratory. (o: Thanks for the link.

Regards,
David
