Hi, I'm a new member and a new Yashica owner 35gs. I just wanted to share a tip I just stumbled upon.
I wanted a cheap way to test my two newly purchased 35gs. I didn't want to buy an adapter if they turned out to be beyond repair.
I bought four cheap LR44s and set about finding a suitable tube to fit them into. I found one on the desk right next to me! An original chapstick.
Once cleaned and stripped you have a tube with a cap either end that is only about 1/4 in too long.
The LR44s fit perfectly and if you remove the bottom cap/wheel they can't fall out and the camera spring touches the batteries through the hole.
Once the tube is cut to length chuck in the batts and a spring to make up the gap then on with the cover and test.
This worked first time for me and took about ten minutes.
Anyway my first camera seems to work fine, just has damaged strap lugs. I should get the second camera tomorrow.
I will also shoot a test roll to check optics and light seals.

One way to keep the batteries inside of the chapstick cylinder is to place some scotch tape around the batteries until they fit snugly. I have utilized the same method, only because I'm cheap, I purchase a card of 10 .357 or LR44s for a buck, made in China of course. But they work just fine. Harlee

'Just my own preference--I only use SR44s or 4SR44s. LR44s have been judged by others much smarter than me to be inferior.

35 got some use today as my wife delivered our first child. Used my Oly as well just in case. So if you can bear it I will post a proud dad shot as soon as we get settled.
Daughter was only 4 hrs old and getting that "sick of being photographed" look.

I got a used Electro 35GT a few weeks ago from craigslist. I ordered a battery adapter from YashicaGuy right away but I got too impatient to wait for the mail. I just bought a 6V battery (don't recall the exact model, but it's the same the yashicaguy adapter uses) and used some wadded up aluminum foil to fill in the gap. It worked perfectly fine.
