Electronic flash hook up for Canon IIF

I want to connect a newer electronic flash unit to my Canon IIF that has a side mount bracket. Is this picture a side mount that I could use for an electronic flash? It has the button that might match the button on the side of the camera and the grooves that might slide on. Please let me know.

I don't think it's possible to connect a modern electronic flash to a II-F. And, from what I read on the Canon Museum web-site, the II-F is only synched for "FP" not "X."

Maybe somebody who owns one of these older knob-wind Canons and uses flash will chime in.
