Hi,

I've always liked the idea of a collapsible lens and I often look for a for a nice 50/3,5 Elmar at a reasonable price whenever I'm on eBay, KEH, or here at RFF. I was wondering if anybody would know if this lens is fully collapsible on a Bessa-T. According to the Camerquest website, its fully collapsible on an R2.

Thanks,
Fernando

Thanks for the response. I had to go back a read that website again. I was mistaken, on the R2. Gandy states that it won't collapse all the way. I got it confused with the 50/2.8 Elmar also mentioned the same webpage. Guess I should avoid the 50/3,5 Elmar on my T.

On the bright side, this could be a good excuse for me to get an LTM Leica.😀

I'm not sure if the Elmar is capable of the same, but my Industar-22 Elmar copy collapses on the Leica CL, which has a metering stalk in front of the shutter curtain. Just look at the avatar.

You can put an elastic band, or other more fashionable "washer," around the barrel of the lens to prevent it from collapsing fully and therefore to protect your camera's guts.

Yep, what Rover said. I have both a 3.5 Elmar 50, and a Fed I-10 (similar to I-22). The elmar is longer and extends farther intothe body than the Fed lens. The Fed lens clears the meter arm of the CL, the Elmnar does not. On a Bessa, the Elmar just touches a light baffle inside the body very close to the light metering cell. Just use a washer or some other way of limiting the degree to which the lens collapses.
