Elmar 50mm f/2 on M8,but can't focus properly

I got a Elmar 50mm f/2 (collapsible) on my M8,but I found that it can't focus properly.Is there any alignment that I can do?

Do you mean that recorded images are not sharp even though focus was achieved with the range-finder? I share Vic's suspicion that the lens was not extended. Are other lenses focussing correctly?
