I recently bought an Elmar 50mm f3.5 lens on ebay. It is missing the mounting flange, but is otherwise in really nice condition, made in 1951. I have checked with "the usual suspects" for Leica parts, but haven't had any luck yet in finding the lens mount. I am hoping that someone on RFF would have such a part available, or maybe an Elmar with useless glass that I could cannibalize.

Any luck??

Cheers,

Good luck, someone will but not I. Sold my bits and pieces, I spent about two years looking for a front element for an otherwise complete Elmar...then gave up and sold it for spares at a very satisfying price.

Does anyone know if the flange from a soviet Industar 22 would fit?

Just tried it and the tube could be screwed in the flange of the "Russian Elmar" Industar. The thread felt a little "loose" though, which fit with the fact that the Leica flange could not be screwed onto the Industar tube. The Industar flange also seemed the tiniest bit thicker so I don't know about focus inaccuracies. Both turn about 180 degrees from infinity to 1m, so I assume the distance scale would be about OK.

Industars are nice lenses and cheap to get. Worth a try to get one and try fit the flange on the Elmar. If it doesn't work, you could always use the Industar on your LTM bodies.

I tried it. I think you must have checked a FED lens, which kind of fits, but is too wobbly to be usable. The thread OD on the Elmar is ~33.8mm, and on the Induster 22 I checked, 35mm. It looks like I will need to find the genuine article.

DAG didn't have one. It was a bit embarrassing, actually- I think I may have been bidding against Don for the lens.

Cheers,
Dez
