Elmarit 90/2.8 Focus Ring & Infinity Stop

I was exploring ebay when I stumbled upon a 90 Elmarit, E46, for what seems like a reasonable price and is cosmetically excellent. Except for one small detail. The focusing ring is shown at a position beyond infinity.

Am I correct in assuming that there must be something wrong here? I thought all M-lenses had "hard" infinity stops on the focusing ring. i.e. the focusing ring stops turning exactly at the infinity mark.

My personal opinion (independent from lens' availability and prices around your place):

I would not buy it.
It seems to have had a few kilometers already with the small handling marks all over the body, which makes the price look ok.
The infinity stop/ focus ring is not normal.
I am not informed about the physical construction of the Elmarit-M, but usually, it takes a not qualified repair/ opening, to end up with this misalignment.

I bought a better looking (but also non mint) Elmarit-M for around 600,- EUR about one year ago in a shop with warranty.

i would look for another if i didn't have a chance to test the lens. if the focus-ring goes beyond infinity maybe the lens isn't coupled right either.

the 90mm elmarits are very cheep and easy to find

edit: got one from -83 in ok conditions (clean glass but not very smooth focusing) for 250 euro
