Embarrassingly noob question, but I really need help :$

Hello.
I recently got a Leica iic rangefinder camera, and I want to use a Jupiter 11 4/135 lens with it.
Im just wondering how I should frame the shots with this telephoto, as the standard built-in finder is obviously for a standard lens.
I purchases an external hotshoe viewfinder I order to use all different lenses.
I have the feeling I should just set the external finder to 135 and it will be framed correctly for this lens, but I just want to check with you guys to make sure.
Rather embarrassing, but I want to be sure. Should I follow my instinct of common sense? 😱

That's correct: use the 135mm framelines. Also set the distance on the finder (if available) to correct for parallax error.

Don't be afraid to ask questions. It's how you learn! There are lots of very helpful folks here on RFF who have years of experience to share and don't mind doing so.

Just don't expect the most accurate framing! For one thing, if the external finder has a parallax adjustment, those can be less than precise. So pictures taken on the fly might be a little off what you saw in the viewfinder.

Hello again!
Another newbie question...but should the image in the finder be upside down?
I assume it shouldn't be, and perhaps the rear lens was replaced wrongly, resulting in this flaw? :bang:
If anyone has a Leitz Vidom Universal Vario Finder, I would very much appreciate your experience with it.

For the VIDOM, view reversal is correct - rumour is this is why Bresson liked it, it made composition easier for him.

The VIOOH shows the image upright. It will take a bit to get used to Leica acronyms ... 🙂

hmm...ok, I will try to find a manual. I only know of the frame setting wheel in the middle and the correction distance wheel on the bottom. I will try though. Thank you.

It should be the rear knob - like just where you'd put your eye.

I think you can turn the eye piece. But even if turned upright, the image will now be left/right reversed.

I tried that, but no difference. Only turns the rear panel wear it says Leitz Germany.

you do realize that once you go over the international date line, the viewfinder image also inverts, right?
