Actually I was trying to post a link to an interesting article on Hasselblad production of film cameras, but whenever I go to a site through a link posted in Hotmail, I am prevented from passisng that link on, it goes back to MSN. I tried to delete my post but wrote empty instead.

Now I pasted the URL onto a Word document and pasted it below:

edit: didn't work again! The link takes you into my hotmail inbox, and even though I like you guys, I'm not sure I want you rummaging around in my inbox! (Go ahead and run with that.)

Doug, that I get. My problem is when I go to a website from a link in a HotMail message. When I highlight the webpage address at the top of the screen and copy it, then move to another site like this one and open a message box to paste the address in, the link takes me only as far as my hotmail site, not the next step to the link within the message in my hotmail. Hope that makes sense!

Yes I hate this "feature" of hotmail. It is also may be dangerous because it acts as an intermediary between the link and you. How secure is that when you are using paypal and such? I notice that the little browser encryption does not show up anymore if you browse to a normally encrypted site through the hotmail link. Beware.

To fix the problem, don't go to the site and then try to copy it from the URL bar. Highlight and copy directly from the text of the message.

HTH,

Scott

Ah, I think I get it, Frank! I've run into about the same thing with Google search results; clicking the link opens the target site in a way that appears hosted by Google. Bookmarking the page is useless because the URL is really a Google one.

If I then navigate the target site with buttons present on the site, that escapes the Google "hosting". I'll often hit the "Home" button and then from there navigate to the page of interest again.

But I see recently that Google is also including the actual site URL in the results list, so that of course makes it a lot easier to bookmark.
