For one, it's fighting a lost and injust war for you, or rescueing victims from earthquakes, taking care of patients in hospitals, picking up your garbage and sweeping the streets, building your houses, and protecting the innocent, the meek, the feeble and the poor from injustice and prejudice in your country and anywhere else. If that makes (my) contemporary generation pathetic, so be it.
THAT is the difference. Thankyou for putting it so well. The current young generation have to remind us all the time of what they do and they give zero credit to anyone older than 30 for ever having done anything (or doing anything: not all those soldiers, firefighters, nurses, doctors etc. are under 30). They just whine and complain that what they do is not recognised. Previous generations just got on with it and did it.
The car maintenance issues I raised are things that should be checked and if necessary dealt with on a weekly basis. To do these things yourself takes fifteen to twenty minutes at most and can be done on your own driveway or wherever your car is kept. If you want to waste money paying someone else to do that everyweek that is your choice. It means that while you stand and wait for someone to come and change a wheel for you, I would be back on my way in a few minutes. Who is the foolish one there?

I guess you're just... old, and bitter. Maybe it's time for you to buy a coffin and lie in it. You've obviously already closed your eyes and shut off your brain.
This is all just aggressive insults and says a lot more about you than it does me.

do you repair your own shoes?
do you make toys for your kids?
do you pick up a screw on the street, saying, it might be just good for something?
do you make your own, personalized postcards when there's someone with a birthday, or for christmas or whatever?
do you make your own lures for fishing?
do you upgrade yourself your computer by changing things inside?
do you make your furnitures yourself?
do you raise yourself a pig for a year, then butcher it and produce sausage, etcetera?
do you bake your own bread? do you gather the wood for the oven to bake the bread?
do you sharpen your knives at home?
do you make your own cloth from wool or whatever raw material?
do you keep chicken and wait for them to lay that damn egg?
etcetera
It's all easy and doable by anyone. But you can't do all these yourself [and have a job as well]. Everyone is doing SOMETHING on his own, instead of running to a specialist. Some people prefer other things than maintainance of a car; most of us are willing to pay for the "luxury" of not doing what we don't like, if there's someone who can do it for us.

The other side of the story is that too many older people feel the need to deride and put down the efforts and work by younger generations. Yes, they fought wars too but somehow those wars were more just than later ones, their patients were more sick than nowadays, their fires were bigger than we have now, etc.
It means that while you stand and wait for someone to come and change a wheel for you, I would be back on my way in a few minutes. Who is the foolish one there?
Who cares? What you consider foolish is essential for another, and the other way around. I don't need to justify my actions to you, so if I wanna wait for the road service to show up and pay a premium for that, that's my choice. Just like it's my choice to ride a bicycle or take the metro to work, and not have a driver's license or car. In your eyes that must be foolish as it takes me much more time to get to work than by car, but I don't care what you find foolish or not. For me it makes sense, and that's it.
This is all just aggressive insults and says a lot more about you than it does me.
Well, chew on those perceived insults and let's see if you learn something from it.

Andy, you're the one with the insults... I think you insulted 95% of the RFF'ers in your previous post.. Everyone below 30, and everyone who doesn't fix their own car. Your generalisations are pathetic and dumb.

Agree. But i prefer repairing a camera against butchering a pig, any day of the year

Of course once in a while I manage to butcher a camera

I'm turning 30 this year. Do i really have to feel insulted, or am i on the limit enough?

Anyway, back to the original subject: Slides are cool. Just as everything that can draw the attention of young ladies.
EDIT: and old ladies, of course. I don't want to insult anyone.

I have learned that when you cannot argue the point you fall back on insults.

I'll say this in language both you and RML will understand:
Like, what-everrrr!

An open mind is worth a thousand times more than knowing how to fix your car.
Good luck with your attitude.

The only thing I did was asking you to stop the generalistic insulting because it's a plain dumb thing to do - you are a fine judge of personality if you know me based on that. I rest my case, last post for me here.
If you want to discuss this with the ignorant, idiotic person that I am (because I'm younger than 30, so I must be, according to you) then feel free to pm me.

There's no point to argue. You were lumping everyone and everyhting in the same box, thereby insulting me and others who happen to disagree with you, don't fit your descriptions or are otherwise not to your liking. I objected to that and you told me that that was the problem with me and my generation.
I'll say this in language both you and RML will understand:
Like, what-everrrr!
I can dig that, man.
BTW, both jvx and I aren't US born, so WTF is "what-everrrr"? Something you accidentally heard on the street? It isn't in my English dictionary.

It seems to be the MTV generation's answer to everything, and is not a US only expression, I hear many teenage girls, such as yourself, use it in their everyday vocabulary.
