Enlarger baseboard

I see quite a few enlargers on *bay being sold without baseboards, and going very inexpensively. Am I missing something, or can't you just bolt the frame down to suitably stable block of wood? Anything special needed?

yah, get a 1" board from the Home Depot. It'll be way better than the pressed wood that enlargers come in.
Lots of people have enlargers sitting in the basement and the boards get water damage or something. No biggy.

When they build a countertop, they cut the hole for the sink. The piece they cut out is good for lots of things.

Gotcha. Thanks!

You can also bolt your enlarger to the wall (need to make some mounting device from wood - that way you can make 'normal' sized prints by putting your easel on a table underneath the enlarger (just make sure everything is at right angles), or extra-large prints by laying your easel on the ground...

I have made several baseboards from thick plywood on enlargers with bad or missing baseboards. Usually they are made of cheap materials and get wet and warp.
