Giving the shutter a clean of the dreaded gloop, I found a bit of corrosion on the runners where the film goes.,

Any ideas how to clean this? Meths isn't shifting it & I thought I'd ask here before I tried anything more extreme.

Run a bit of cotton over it and check if cotton gets caught on the rails. If not, I would just clean it with some ronsonol and leave it. If it doesn't scratch the film, i wouldn't bother with it.

It's still fairly smooth. Certainly not as smooth as the shiny bits.
Looks like a film was left in there for a long time.

A little toothpaste would likely yield good results too, providing, of course, it is kept well away from the shutter. Looks like you did a good job of cleaning the goo off the shutter blades.
Cheers

Eraser, nope.
Tooth paste, nope.
A bit of wet & dry, a bit better.
The shutter goo wasn't too bad, just a couple of spots & sticky shutters.

Got a similar problem (without the stickyness --yet) on a couple of old EOS cameras. How did you go about cleaning the shutter blades? Cotton swab and lighter fluid?.

Pretty much, but I used methylated spirits. You have to be very gentle on the shutters, but you get a feel for it.
