EP-2 and Pany 20mm 1.7

Collected my EP-2 after selling my GF-1
Kept all the Pany lens
Some shots taken with 20mm and EP-2

The focusing on GF-1 is so much better than the Ep-2
But straight off camera, the JPEGs on the EP-2 are much better
I had the GF1 with the viewfinder and its no where in comparison with the EP-2
With manual lens, the EP-2 with the viewfinder works easier
The EP-2 is more solid in my hands rather than the GF1 which feels smaller
The trade off is ok with me
 
Except faster AF, not much speaks for the GF1 as compared to the EP2. Much better jpegs (wb, color accuracy), and IBIS plus superior EVF (this one is a joy to use) makes it the better solution for long lenses and mf (legacy lenses). And, the EPs form factor makes the camera easier to hold with bulkier lenses.
Had the EP1, "upgraded" to the GF1 and am now using the EP2. The former two will be sold.
 
I'm using the E-P2, 20mm, 14-45mm Pany combo as well.
I'm enjoying the 1.5 stop faster 20mm over the Oly f2.8.
For more speed, I use an adapter and slap on my M lens. The CV 40mm Nokton does quite well.

Similar to yourself, I find the viewfinder incredible, albeit not to small, but that's a minor inconvenience if I'm comparing with my former D300.

Do the Panasonic lenses communicate all the corrective information to the E-P2, and visa versa with the Oly lenses on the GF-1?
 
Is there a definitive answer as to whether the EP-1/2 corrects for distortion and CA on the 20/1.7 in camera?

It would be a shame if it didnt but i guess depends on your style of photography.

Distortion yes, CA no. The Oly's don't do CA correction.

Yes as the correction tables are in the lens interface spec, but the Oly bodies don't take full advantage of it (see my previous post).
 
Thanks for the info everyone. I was seriously considering the Ricoh GXR but the E-P2 has more versatility, so will probably be the one. I wonder when Oly's next few m43 lenses will arrive??? It is nice this is an open system and you can mix and match cameras & lenses......
 
Hopefully the 20/1.7 and 17/2.8 were proof of concepts for olympus and panasonic and that more small fast primes will follow.

If you take a look at the olympus 4/3 lens family you will be hard pressed to find one decent fast prime. The best one probably came from Leica, the 50/1.4 summilux for the 4/3.

Olympus really concentrated on zooms for the 4/3, especially long fast but heavy ones. i somehow think they would have sold more lenses if there were more primes.
 
I love this pairing. The E-P2 finally convinced me that I could sell my Zeiss Ikon and not miss the VF too much. There were practical reasons for me to sell it, and I will definitely miss the Ikon, but the E-P2 EVF is very nice to use. It makes manual focus easier than using the LCD. The E-P2, EVF and 20/1.7 are a real pleasure to shoot with.
 
Can I ask if the 20mm 1.7 works with the Continuous Autofocus Tracking on the EP-2? It isn't supported on the GF-1, and this sounds like it would be a standout feature for sure.
