EP-2 and Pany 20mm 1.7

I am getting an ep-2 with the 20 1.7 lens in the next couple of weeks. Would any of you recommend the pany zoom over the olympus? Does it focus faster? I really wish there were more prime lens options. I have thought about the 4/3 Olympus 50mm, but am worried about the focus speed of that lens on the ep-2. Does anyone have any experience with that camera/lens combo? Thanks, Rick.

The Oly 50/2 4/3 macro focuses absurdly slowly on my EP2 (with new firmware). Great lens, but really only usable with manual focus.

The Panny zoom is way better than the Oly.
To start, the build quality is far superior on the Panny. It also focuses faster than the Oly.
It's sharper and has better contrast all across the range...
I have the Pen 1 & 2 and use the Panny glass except for the cool 17mm....

Great OOC JPEG shots Cableguy55, what picture mode do you recommend as a good starting point with the E-P2? Also, what adjustment parameters do you use within that particular mode, specifically contrast, sharpness, saturation and effect? Is the maximum too much when doing parameter adjustments?

I asked my lady friend the other night if she could see the distortion and chromic abberation in the pictures with my Pen. She just looked at me like I was from another planet.

I didn't have the heart to tell her that I am, but I think I will stop worrying about things like distortion, chromic abberation, center sharpness, edge sharpness and LPM throughout the angle of view.

I think I will just focus on taking pictures.

Well I finally had a chance to take some shots yesterday with my new E-P2 and 20/1.7 combo, as well as this morning over breakfast with friends and my wife (also a friend!).

First Impressions: The camera handles great. I love the intuitive feeling, and the rapidity with which I could work. The image quality - well I'll let you guys be the judges.

So at the large Super-Fine JPEG setting at the 4:3 ratio, they work out to be about 34.9mb files (about 9.6"x12.8" @ 314 dpi). Don't know what the RAW file sizes would be like, but from what I've heard, there isn't much of a qualitative difference between the large SF JPEGS and the RAW images.

These shots are straight from the camera, and simply made into 72 dpi JPEGS with '10' compression level. Colour outdoor shots were done at ISO 100, and the B+W and colour indoor shots were done at ISO 500 (I seem to recall!). All shots were taken with the 20/1.7 Lumix lens.

No, there wasn't. It's just a lacquered picture made to look like a comic book cover. You get them in all sorts of varieties.

Ah, that's my first thought as well. There wasn't Tintin in Vietnam in the series.
