Hi-

Looking at scanned negs onscreen isn't cutting it for me. Printing with a service is difficult, as it takes weeks of shipping for me both ways. Establishing a darkroom or (finding one to use) is simply an impossiblity for me.

I'm thinking of trying an Epson 2880 and high-quality fiber-base glossy paper like the Ilford or Museo stuff. (At least once I got the hang of printing with it...) However, my wife has an ultimatum before I spend the money. I have to at least see what the prints look like, in person.

Can a kind Epson user print one of my scan files (b/w) just so I can confirm this is the way I want to go? I'd SERIOUSLY appreciate it and would gladly send you a check for your trouble and cost.

Also, what else do I need aside from the printer? I'm not too computer-savvy once you're past the general user end of things. (I did see a nice book at B&H I'd buy along with the printer, tho...) I see people talking about monitor calibration, printer drivers, and a bazillion other things that baffle me.

Do inkjets of this quality suffer from hot or humid environments? Will the jets clog all the time like the cheap HPs I had years ago when I lived in the desert?

Finally, if re-packed in the original box, does anyone see a problem making international moves with this thing every 2-4 years? (I'm figuring they only last 5 years or so anyhow before they die...)

Thanks!
