Can anyone tell me if the Epson P-5000 supports and displays M8 DNG Raw files?
Many thanks

Always shoot in DNG and basic jpg. Small easily (quick) opening files on the P5000.

User manuals are available on Epson's website.... I just looked. DNG is listed but I'm not sure if that means yes or maybe. Not sure if DNG is a standard format. I shoot DNG+jpg as well for my P-2000

I have looked on the website, but, as you say, its not clear which DNG, as Leica is not specifically mentioned. I use DNG plus low res JPEG but was wondering if straight DNG's alone could be displayed.
Boilerdoc, do you have a 5000?
thanks for your help

DNG is a public archival format created by Adobe. If it's listed on the website it will work, regardless of what camera it comes out of.

Doesn't look like it.
I have the P-3000 (same as the P-5000 with a smaller drive), and Leica DNG files are not readable. I have to use the basic jpeg trick, but it's a bit of a compromise, to be honest. Unlike some file viewers, the JPEG/DND are not viewed as one entity. Therefore you have to keep your wits about you when deleting files as you have to identify the unwanted DNG by name rather than sight.

it will store both dng and jpegs but only display the jpegs. there's no chance they will support m8 raw files. i have asked them in person at PMA and there was an emphatic "no".

I guess I will have to shoot in RAW and jpeg to get the browse facility on the Epson.
Thanks everyone for their comments and advice, much appreciated

You might want to look at the Jobo Giga series, think they support the Leica DMG format.

I think my quest is over! Just discovered that the Hyperdrive Colorspace (80-160 GB) storage devices will soon have a firmware update that supports (and displays) Leica DNG files, thanks everyone for your input!

One of the issues to be aware of is the "amount of time it takes to display a DNG image" .....the JOBO will handle M8 DNG s but the reports indicate its so slow it useless for most photographers.

To the chagrin of myself and many others, NO! I have been on at them for ages to support the Leica DNG's which are a customized version of the standard Adobe one's, as well as why they won't implement password protect. The only solution is to shoot both RAW and JPG simultaneously which is a pain given the M8 doesn't support anything higher than 2GB cards.

The Hyperdrive Colorspace (80-160 GB) storage devices now have a firmware update that supports (and displays) Leica DNG files. I have bought one and its a peach.
Check it out:

thanks again everyone for their input!
P.S. and it reads the Hama 4GB cards, so everyone's a winner!
