epson r-d1 and the hidden usb connector

as I couldn't find anything about it, is there anybody who knows something about the usb conncetor in the r-d1? it's behind the little plastic knob under the sd-card slot. I found it during repairing my epson and tried to use it today because I'm in amsterdam and forgott my card reader.

anybody knows how to use the connector?

If I remember correctly, there is no consumer (the user; as in me and you) use for the port. It exists for Epson techs to access the electronic guts of the camera.

I also “discovered" the port and asked the same question here on RFF. Yes, supposedly it's only for lab work. I tried connecting mine, and nothing happened.
