It appears that my R-D1 has finally bit the dust. No matter what shutter speed is selected, the ISO, shutter speed, and compensation take on random values. This also happens when AE is selected. Probably a circuit board problem? I guess that it will make a nice door stop. :bang:

My M5s need red dots!
A Google search offered this possibility... inside this very forum. It looks as if Epson still may repair these cameras. Take a look at the link below.

My first e-mail would be to: https://www.stevecamera.com/
They CLA these cameras and also perform common repairs. I suspect that is your best bet.
After that, this article provides some links that might be worth checking out: https://cameraquest.com/Epson-R-D1/_r-d1/r-d1_14.htm
Finally, per the above linked forum thread, it sounds like japancamerahunter may have, at one time, acted as a go-between for individuals in the US trying to get repairs.
Good luck! I had an Epson RD-1 and regret selling mine. I'd pick one up again for the right price.

But you can call me Steve
I don't know if they can handle a Circuit board issue but I've had several R-D1 repairs by Steve's Camera in southern California. https://www.stevecamera.com

Thanks all for the suggestions. I reached out to Steve's a few days ago and am awaiting a reply. They had repaired the LCD on the R-D1 a number of years ago and it has been working fine since then. I may also contact JCH and see what Bellamy has to say.

Re the possibility of Bellamy forwarding to Epson in Japan, they no longer service any of the R-D1 models. Discontinuation dates for service were as follows:
R-D1: 4/30/2013
https://www.epson.jp/support/portal/hoshu/r-d1.htm
R-D1s: 9/30/2016
https://www.epson.jp/support/portal/hoshu/r-d1s.htm
R-D1xG: 3/31/2021
https://www.epson.jp/support/portal/hoshu/r-d1xg.htm
Good luck, hope you can find someone who can work on it.

Thanks to everyone for your help. I guess it's a sign that I should be shooting more film of that film that has been sitting in the refrigerator.

As they say in the pukka English ex-colonies, "vale" - your RD1 has had its time, and other than buying another used body (and maybe risking the same sad end as your current one has just reached), there really isn't much point in spending big money to repair an ancient photo machine.
Which of course isn't to say you should make enquiries as to whether it can be repaired. Someone out there may be able to pull a rabbit out of a hat for you, and give it a little more life. So as they say in Britain, best of.
Lucky you to have an M6 AND an X100!! Me, my Contax G1 kit sits quietly in my camera cabinet, awaiting its next (sadly irregular) airing and outing with some of my fast-dwindling stock of B&W film in the darkroom fridge. So yes, get stuck into that film before it turns into so much colourful dust...

Yes, I guess that's true but Steve's was able to repair my R-D1 and now it is working as it should. They did a great job!
