Hi all,

I recently purchased an epson r2400 printer so I can finally print my B&W stuff. So far, so good, I've been having a lot of luck. Something I don't know a lot about though are color profiles. I've been learning quickly, but epson doesn't give a lot of info as to the best profiles to use for viewing. I know enough to use their profiles for printing, but I get quality that's all over the map when I try different things for the viewing part.

What profiles have you used when printing you B&W to get good results. (Funnily enough, when I use the epson profiles for viewing as well as printing I have my best results so far. But there's gotta be something better, right?)

Shaaktiman... I think the Advanced Black and White mode of the 2400 is not color-managed, so the Epson profiles would maybe not be too useful in softproofing. Or are you using the regular color mode to print your B&W prints?

For better B&W printing, visit the Yahoo group DigitalBlackAndWhiteThePrint, but the content there is technical and there is a steep learning curve. The most serious 2400 owners on that group seem to be using QuadToneRip, aka QTR, and an Eye-One Photospectrometer to devise softproofing ICC curves for their printers.

I'm using the advanced b&w mode to print. I don't know about the print space profiles, as to whether they are used by the driver, but when I apply the viewing profiles to the photo it makes a significant difference in the final print.

Thanks, I'll check out the yahoo group. Maybe I'll get the rip, I've been thinking about it for awhile.
