Epson Scanning - Histogram Dialog

As far as I know ACR has no precision in their tone curves. They just use a gamma correction to an intermedate color space for the initial conversion, and then convert from that space to the output space, where you can apply a tone curve and the goofy sliders. It's **** software. I'm not recommending color perfect, but they have an add on of some kind to get a linear file out of an epson scanner, I forget what it's called. This seems really convoluted to me though, just raise the value in the middle box in levels in epson scan and output a 16 bit tiff. Epson is a serious imaging company, not a shill network like adobe.

Johann,

I left my thread for dead and such wonderful information was left behind. Thanks for the note on how to get RAW/Flat file from epson software. I just now did this and used negfix8 to convert to ***. Not sure what i converted to (gamma 2.2?), but they look amazing in LR and have so much more latitude for adjustment.

I wish i saw this 6 months ago! :)

Colton, thanks as well for the good read on color negs. I will check that out some more as well.

Take care,
Jesse
