Epson V300 ?

Can this older scanner scan MF negatives directly on the glass??
It can scan 35mm with the supplied holders. OR, does the negative need to be raised up off the glass a certain amount to be in focus... AND... are scanners setup to scan "Predetermined" sizes for film and I am out of luck if the software can only scan 35mm via the holders.

I have a Plustek 7300 for 35mm, so I need this for older MF negatives....

The scanner can only use the holders to scan film. It does raise it slightly off the glass to scan it. I've found the quality to be mediocre, despite awesome looking scans from prints and documents. I am very picky though, I'm used to scanning on an X5. I could be using the software inefficiently though, I'm not experienced with it.
