Hi!! I recently purchased my epson v500 on ebay.
I scanned for the first time and this is what I got. There is a straight blue and yellow line. I tried different strip but it also appeared.
Do I have a faulty scanner? Any solution to this?

if the scanning direction is horizontal (referring to this picture), then the scanner is defect.

Had a similar problem with a 2400 XL at School. Turned out to be a problem with VueScan. We downloaded the latest Epson driver and the problem was solved.

I had lines show up on my Epson V550, although the image wasn't shifted like yours though. To fix the lines I had, I cleaned the flatbed glass towards the back where the opening would be on the 35mm holder. From what I've read elsewhere, the scanner uses this area for calibration.
Your scan does look like more of a driver issue or a defective unit though.

I tried cleaning the scanner and reinstalled the software.

Clean glass both sides.
