Err message on Nikon D600

I have this D600 for a few weeks. But whenever I turn it on I get Err message on top LCD (and in the viewfinder as well) And the lens doesn't focus AF. I tried to clean contacts on both the lens and the body. I changed the lenses, still the same. Anybody has any idea what's wrong?

Tested with only the one (of your listed) Nikon Lens? If the 180/2.8 ED Nikkor is the AIS version it only works in A Mode. Current firmware?

I had one that developed this issue. Or it would AF but never be able to lock focus. It would just cycle through the focus range. Turns out, it was because I was using a non genuine battery. I popped a genuine in there and it worked perfectly. Perhaps that is the cause? If not, sorry, just my 2 cents...

Make sure the focus screen, up inside the lens mount, has not popped out of place. Push the focus screen frame up until it locks into place.
