EuroMeet 2012 - Istanbul

Checked my passport today and it's valid just long enough that I can travel to turkey. Lucky me.

Have you all checked your passports and visa regulations for your country?
 
Hallo Tom (post 203). There is a requirement that the passport is valid for three months after the expected date of leaving Turkey. If this is not the case the border control might not let you in the country.... This is presumably to avoid legal complications for the tourist if they have to delay departure, for example after a road accident or something like that.

As a German citizen I'm allowed to stay 90 days without visa. Therefor the passport has to be valid at least 90 days. Mine is valid until sept. so everything is ok but I have to have a new one as soon as possible.

I was there last month, and all EU citizens (and a couple of other nationalities) actually do have to buy a visa at the port of entry. Istanbul airport in my case. Costs €15 euros. To be bought and paid for before you pass the passport control.

I still can't decide what gear to take ... M-mount kit, Nikon RF kit, Nikon SLR kit, or mix two different kits. Who'd a thought choosing would be so stressful :bang: :D

Are you sure? I never paid for any visa (except my recently acquired residency permit) and I did my fair share of entries and exits. Did you try to pass the control and they sent you to the visa desk or you just stopped there before going for the control?

we will take LTM Nikkors (for the bessa R2) and Nikon S/S2 or a S and RS2 and a D700 with.. damn couldn't decide yet on the lens...:D

I was sent back from the passport control to the visa desk actually, because I never bought a visa to Turkey before either. There were large signs up with tens of flags of countries that needed to buy visas. Including, I think, all EU countries. With my Dutch passport I never had to buy a visa before, but it looks like it's policy now. Cash cow mostly.

That's the norm now. In some Africa countries even in Transit you need to pay the VISA...

Hey all,

I will give a little advice to all. Even the tour will mostly be by walking, there should be some points we will take vehicles. So I suggest you guys to buy Istanbul Card once you see a sell spot.

It is an RFID card which you can put money on it, then you can use it on trains, buses, subway and ferry. As far as I recall there is a deposit (10 TL?). It can be used for multiple people. So if you travel together, one card will be enough.

Additional 20 TL will be enough I think for two days. And I am not sure but, you may take the rest of your money back when you return the card. But don't count on me (because I am mostly a car person).

I was at home watching the rain fall on the Marmaris with a cup of hot chocolate in my hands :D Well ok, there was no hot chocolate, but there could have been! :p

p.s.: I got acros in 35mm as well...

Dunno how ıt happened but yesterday I get caught second tıme, walking down from Şişhane to Karaköy and then in Kadıköy.

I have only GA645i wıth me and fılm ıs runnıng out slower than I planned. ;) But Summicron and Summilux are so tempting to take them home, I'm not sure if I cant afford any of them...
