(Note to Mods. This thread is intended to assist a group of members in choosing a weekend for the Euromeet. Please leave the thread in 'Travel'. Thanks.)
After our earlier general discussions about a 2014 Euromeet, here is a list of possible weekends, covering May and June plus the first weekend of July. Any wider time period than that gets a bit silly with a consensus I expect. Note that the weekend of 31st.May will be a holiday weekend in many countries and so might not be a good choice for us.
As we are limited with options in the poll it will be a simple choice of your preferred date or dates, as multiple voting is possible. If for example you can make time for 'only' the first three weekends in May, then vote for those weekends. I'm hoping this will give a reasonably clear result. (Wild optimism...)
If there are any really impossible weekends, then please make a comment and we can try to come to some sort of communal conclusion with that information too.
Edit:
The "Where to go?" poll thread is HERE.

Just saw that this poll is open until March 24. I was hoping for a quick decision in February. Hard to keep all the weekends open.

yes, i also think it should be cut short. most of the interested people voted already anyway.

The "end date" is meaningless and I filled in a date in the future as it was required during the making of the poll. We should have made a decision in much less time than a month from now.
Unfortunately it appears that a maximum of six people can attend, even on the most popular weekends. Is that really the position?

Will definitely not attend in July and second half of June.

Exactly the same here.

Currently it looks as though the weekends of 10th May and 7th June are the most popular, so things my work out well for you, Martin and Tom.
Shall we say that the end of this month (February) should see a decision, based on the two polls ?
EDIT: The end of February doesn't include the weekend (when presumably many RFF'rs are online), so lets make the decision date, based on the poll-threads, the end of next Sunday 2nd.March.

I dont how it is in the rest of Europe, but I guess that the 1st May is holiday everywhere and it is Thursday this year so it makes nice long weekend.
Also we have holiday on 8th May - end of the WWII, I guess that it could be holiday in other countries as well - again option for the long weekend.

Mis-voted, sorry
Mis-voted, sorry
I just found out that my vote for June 7th does NOT hold up, I do have other obligations for that weekend. However, I don't know if or how I can undo my vote...
So instead of reading the results as 11 to 10 in favor of June 7th over May 17th, it is actually a tie between those two dates...

7th June looks like a nice compromise between the 'let's go soon' and the 'lets go later' groups.

I am afraid that June doesnt work for me, so maybe next year.

With an allowance of one mistaken vote on the 7th.June it appears that equal numbers can travel for the weekends of 17th.May and 7th.June. Clearly these are not exactly the same people, as the 7th is not do-able for some.
It looks as though eight people, from the eighteen voters in total, will be disappointed whichever of the weekends is chosen.
The obvious question is to ask are ALL those who voted definitely planning on travelling to the Euromeet? Possibly there are some 'maybe' votes along with the 'certain' ??

Just looked up the votes of last year. 34 people voted in total, 18 votes for the weekend we met and 9-10 people where there. If we take this as a trend then it's most likely that not more than 5-6 will meet in Gdansk this time. What a pity.
Will i come ?
May 17. - 100%
June 7. - 75%
Some others already said they can't come in June.

Yes, the numbers are not huge. However, far more people voted for destinations than for the weekend poll, so I hope that some will make a vote or comment this evening about the dates. My feeling would be that May is preferable to June, simply because it is likely to be out of the way of peoples plans for early Summer trips or holidays (those who don't have to wait for school-children to finish in July seem to go away earlier on holidays, over here anyway).
I will give the locations poll a 'bump' and see what people say this evening, then there must be a decision about when the Euromeet visits (probably) Gdansk!!
PS. Given the current actions around Kaliningrad it is probably useful for us that Lithuania or Latvia did not come top in the poll . . .

Did I miss some news? Gdansk is closer to Kaliningrad than any of the Baltic capitals.
