Eve Arnold died

Amazing woman and work... she's someone I'm sure we all would have liked to sit down with and have a coffee and listen to her talk. She saw a lot and did a lot.

From the LA Times obituary:

`"I came to photography by accident," Arnold wrote in her book "In Retrospect." A friend gave her a Rolleicord portable box camera...'

It didn't make sense to me either until I opened the thread and realized she had died. "Passes" is a commonly used abbreviation for "passed away" here. Don't know if it's used in the UK now or not.

A very sad loss indeed. What a talent.

Thanks Peter ...no its not .
I checked with an English teacher this morning who was equally confused.
Makes it sound like she`s qualified for something ...perhaps she has.
However all is now clear.
Divided by a common language and all that :)

Sorry for the confusion, gents... "Eve Arnold passes" (to the hereafter) is a gentler way around here of saying "Eve Arnold died", but the latter is more straightforward, and thus the thread title improves through your input... :)

Well, she was 99 yrs old. She was a great photographer, but must dying always be sad?

Celebrate her work!
