ever carry 2 bags?

Just today in Tacoma. One bag for DSLR and lenses (used two) - Tamrac Expedition 3. One bag for Minolta Maxxum 7000 and two lenses and film (used one) = LowePro™ Exchange Messenger.

NOT happy with that. Better solution is BlackRapid™ Two Camera system and the LowePro™ for film and lenses. It didn't hinder the shooting, but it wasn't optimal for using two cameras and trying to switch between them.

I haz a bad right shoulder anyway, so two bags is going to suck one way or the other.

Many times. I worked as an assistant at Time-Life. On assignment I carried the photog's stuff. Some very famous guys. Sort of like a golf caddy but got to shoot as well. Usually two Domke like bags, a Nikon F around my neck and a Leica in hand.

We worked political conventions, followed candidates around the country, etc. You get used to it.

The pay was OK but the girls were better. This was in the late 60's through 1972 or so. Then I got others to carry my gear.

thank goodness i got my girls in other ways...😛

but i doubt anyone would want to carry my bags, then or now.

I have carried a small bag with one 35mm camera plus a small bag with a TLR. It's not that bad really. When needed, I leave one bag in the car,and use the other bag.

If I shoot large format, I would carry 2 bags.

1 main big bag for LF gear with film holders, lens and all.

And a small bag for my DSLR/RF/Light Meter/Accessories if need be.

Backpack with film, books and magazines and a shoulder bag with gear - only to get on to an airplane to go someplace interesting. Otherwise, I try to travel as light as possible - if it can't fit into one small Courierware messenger bag, then it stays home or back in the hotel room.

My first reaction was "no way", but on reflection I have traveled with two bags, one for each of two different camera systems... by car, not by air. Never actually carried two bags while shooting, as I'd prefer not to carry a bag at all.

Every time I think of carrying a bag while shooting, I remember the awful experience walking through Old San Juan Puerto Rico... I had two Contax G2 bodies and three lenses in the bag and I'd draw out whichever camera had the appropriate lens on it. Man, my shoulders got sore that afternoon! I switched the bag from one shoulder to the other as the pain grew, and eventually decided not to do that again. Though it was handy to have the two cameras and I got some good pics.

I don't think I've ever actually walked with two bags while shooting. I've carried two at a time in and out of a hotel room. And yeah, on a hike up to delicate arch I had Leica gear in a Domke F-5XB, and an XPAN in my backpack. On a long car trip to Colorado, I will have a number of bags in the car. I will have a large bag just to transport Nikon gear, and another one for Hasselblad. Then I will have a smaller bag for use when I shoot; a Domke F6, maybe, or a photo backpack for a hike. If I were going to walk with two bags, I would probably have my Tamrac 706 convertible shoulder bag/fanny pack for Nikons, plus Domke F-5XB or F-6 for Leica.

Have tried it once with small bags, one bag film, the other digital. Now I sometimes take 2 bags but one is 'for transport', the other for active use. Like a G617 in one for occasional use in a bag that gets out of the car when needed.

Sadly, I do it all the time. Not two camera bags, but my laptop bag for work and my camera bag. It's a pain, but combining them into one bag makes for carrying one large and clumsy bag.

working downtown now, i notice how many folks, men included, that carry more than one bag with them. 'working' men carrying a punchbag along with a man bag...some women have several bags along with their 'purse'...
travelling light ain't what it once was...

NEVER! I did carry a fairly large Tamrac when I traveled in Europe... and then a midsize thing. Didn't like either, so I went down to a Domke F5XB and that's about it.

But in my trips I've seen dSLR shooters with support systems on their chests, and large, system-branded bags with tripod loops, wearing fishing hats and photographer vests. They're a hoot! 🙂

I tried one small bag and a backpack but didn't like it. Sometimes when traveling by car for more days I have one small bag for the daily use with my cameras and another bigger bag with other cameras which I do not use very much and leave in hotel room. But when out to take photograph my ideal is one camera across my body a la bandolier and a lens in a pocket or in the small bag.
