Ever take a photo that you knew was going to last?

I just developed a roll of film today from when I was in New York with my sister. She just got engaged at the end of June, and this was the first time I saw her since then. I went out to breakfast with her and her fiance and took this photo of them. I really like the photo and I know it will mean a lot to all of us for a very long time. More than other photos I have taken that I like, this is one that I know is going to be important, probably through the rest of my life. Not just because it is a good photo, but because of the circumstances. It is of the newly-engaged, taken the first time that I have seen them as prospective husband and wife, it will really capture that moment.

Anyway, here is the photo:

Have any of you all taken photos where you felt similarly? I would be interested to see them.

oh, by the way it was taken with the 35/1.4 ASPH at 1.4 on Acros developed in Rodinal 1:100....just because I know someone will probably want to know...

Great photo, lots of emotion in there 🙂

Yep, I have to say some photo's I take, I know I'll like for a long time, but usually because I finally capture a friend looking great and very natural in a photo. When I've done that, I know I have a lasting memory of them, with a very obvious visual reminder.

For me it was more selfish. The first time it happened was almost 2 years ago, taking a photo of a guy called Richard Barlow (who could have come straight out of The Cure). I took the photo's for an art project, on a Zenit-E, and I realised photography could be my life. The same for friends I've photo'd since, and one of my parents as well.

Not only photo's I've taken though, but every now and then me and a couple friends go to photo booths. I got a photo from my 17th birthday of myself, a friend named Bry, a girl named Nat and her friend Amy. A few months ago I saw Amy for the first time since that photo, of course, I hadnt forgotten her. (oh for the record this is another Amy to the ones in the photo's from Lydiard).

This post is getting a bit long, but the other thing is that I really want to take photo's of my grandparents before its too late. They're all getting old, and although old people make amazing photo's, I dont want to think I missed my chance to take an amazing photo of people special to me.
