Ever wonder if it's sunny where you are?

My answer to the headline is, not since I got away from that <*#!> submarine 🙂

Yeah! Join the navy they said, see the world they said! And then they put me on a submarine!

The baltic sea is very boring some 30 feet below the surface, and not only that I had to share my bed with the other radiooperator, no, I was not allowed to sleep with an open window 🙂

bobofish, the Rollei 35TE was the camera I bought when I got onto the sub. Just the right size if you don't carry to much film 🙂

And on a german sub, everybody smells. Or no, it's the other way around. Fresh air stinks!

Ever seen a shower over a toilet bowl?

Socke,
Our experiences are alike but quite different. I served aboard several U.S. nuc's during my time and I agree, the sun never shines. Went over 90 days at a time without the sun, and guess what, we docked in Bremerhaven in the middle of the night. After some time at sea, when they open the hatch, fresh air does smell. I was shocked. I took a "new" Fujica ST701 to sea with me as it was one of the smallest SLRs in the early 70's. Thanks for sharing!

Fresh air smells...as in how?

It's certainly logical...there must be all kinds of foul smells circulating, but since we're used to them, we don't notice them.

Jon, if you jest, have you seen fishes smoke? But at the time I spent on them, smoking was allowed in most spaces. Weird how customs change. You could order your cigarettes from the quatermaster and get them delivered on board for a very cheap price.
