Canada, eh.
Do you carry a camera with you everyday (or most times) as you go about your normal routines? If so, what camera do you select for this role?

I select a camera that is light in weight, small in size, robust, and either automatic or fully manual depending on my mood (how involved I feel like getting in photography) on that day.

For an everyday camera, I've used:
CL with 40
IIIa with collapsible Elmar(ski)
Yashica T4
Minilux
Rollei 35TE

Yes, I do carry a camera for routine tasks about town. The specific gear depends on what I've chosen to have loaded, and whim... Most common choices would be a Bronica RF645, Canon ELPH Jr (APS film), Minolta CLE, or Contax G2.

There've been times I'm tempted to go without the camera when I'm just walking over two blocks to pick up the mail, but on Saturday events proved why that's a poor idea. As I walked out I hesitated, then slung my new Pentax 67II over my shoulder... Half a block away on the corner near a coffee drive-thru there was a man standing next to a skateboard. I asked him if that's how he gets around (humorously) and he said it belonged to his son, inside getting an ice cream cone. I asked if I could take a shot of him and the skateboard, and he obliged with a nifty pose. Another half block down the street in front of a Victorian house converted to an attorney's offices, I encountered the attorney and his wife out weeding the garden around his business sign. He recognized me as the photo nut who had taken photos of the plastic cow on the porch before it was stolen, and we chatted a bit as I took a few shots, and then we did an "American Gothic" pose with the rake and hoe.

We'll see how these come out, but this is just an example of the unexpected opportunities that may be lost if you find yourself without a camera at the time. Ya never know... 🙂

Edit: Wow, popular topic with fast responses! Admittedly I got sidetracked while typing, but when I started my response it would have been the first one! 😀

Olympus 35 EC or XA. I want a camera WITH ME. One of these is always in my briefcase or glovebox of my car. I would never keep an M3 in the glovebox.

Neither would I. That's why it lives in my purse.

Actually, I wouldn't keep any of my cameras in the glove compartment, but I live in the Big City (or at least, I used to -- San Francisco barely counts).

bessa r + 35 skopar or XA, always..

never used either without knowing and planning in advance though.. don't know, just not interested in photographing random stuff.

My IIIF with collapsable summitar is always in my laptop bag because of it's small size.
I will be swapping that out for my Kiev 2 and J8 since the RFF FSU contest is on.

Right now it's my Bessa R and 35mm color skopar. Used to be my GSn, but it has a few minor issues keeping it out of the rotation.

Most recently its been the M6 with 35 'cron, but depends on my mood and whats loaded. If in doubt its the RD-1 with 35 or 50 'cron.

Canon 10d with a 50 and 100mm lens. and a
Leica m6ttl with a 50mm or minolta CLE with a 40mm rokkor and or a MF folder...

If I could I would leave the canon most of the time but I have to have digital for work so I just got used to havingmy domke on my neck for every waking hour of my life.
