everyday camera

I'm not really that big on carrying purses. Stilletto heels, ok; fishnet stockings, fine; but a purse is right out.

I find fishnets to be itchy. And it's such a pain in the ass keeping the seams straight in back.

Not even a man-purse? 😉

I'm very glad to see this thread come up as I am currently looking for an everyday camera. I have been looking at the Rollei 35 series (probably either an S or an SE with the sonnar lens). Any thoughts?

Just as a general rule pick the biggest, best, most capable camera you're willing to suffer by way of bulk and weight. It's always a trade-off, same with guns. And it may change with the circumstances, event, and mode of dress. 🙂

I go pretty much everywhere with a domke j-803, which I use as a general satchel for a book, papers, cell phone etc, and I almost invarialbly have either an MP or M7 with a 35 or 50mm summilux. Sometimes I will add another lens. Ultralight would be the CL, but I have not had it for long enough to really make it a standard yet.

I have only one camera. The RF645 is my standard. Not too small, not too big - not to forgettable. Better not to forget, I'd say. Forgetting the camera is hazardous to its health : bang it into things, through the bag in the car without thinking, etc.

Oly XA for the days the wife looks funny at me, Nikon S with a 50 f1.4 when she doesn't care what I carry and a Nikon F or F2 with 35mm 85mm and 105mm when she is not looking 😀

Around town, either my F3HP w/Nikkor 35-70 zoom (a little slow at f3.5) or my Bessa R2S w/Nikkor 5.0cm 1.4 (sometimes with an extra lens or two). The Bessa is in my bag right now. 🙂

I gotta agree with mitspooner here. As much as I would like to carry a larger camera around all the time, the small size of the Olympus XA (or XA2) makes it an ideal carry everywhere camera that passes the wife's test of unobtrusiveness/invisibility.

I try to carry a camera with me everywhere. Lately I have been carrying my Oly RC and Oly C7000 digital. In the warm weather I use a small belt pack lined with foam. Modified man-purse I guess.

Oly XA if I'm walking,
used to be my Minox 35 GL, but I get more in focus shots with the XA

In the car usually either a Pentax Spotmatic or
a Nikon EM with 35mm lens.

Nikon FM3A with Micro Nikkor 55 f2.8 or M2 with Summicron 35. But I am really tempted to get an Oly XA as an everyday camera.

I always have my Olympus XA in my bag, with a couple of rolls of extra film!

I usually have a camera with me. Which one it is changes with day/mood.
The usual suspects are:
Bessa R with J8 or CV35
Kiev 4 with J8m
Zorki 3M with J8
Nikon Coolpix 5000
Today, it's the Zorki 3M with a newly acquired FED 50/3.5 collapsible.

I always have a camera in my hand when I head out the door. Of late it's either the CL w/ the collapsible Summicron (occasionally the Canon FTbN w/a Canon 50/1.4).

And my balance just isn't good enough for heels so I just like a nice comfy pair of flats

William

A double-stroke M3 with a current Elmar 50/2.8.

I carry it to and from work every single day.

I also have a complete DSLR kit in the trunk of my car in case I decide to bug out and head to the Shawangunks or Catskills for an afternoon.
