Everyone is jumping on the film camera bandwagon

I specialized in all those closet camera's and bought like crazy. After a couple of years I started selling.

Business has been good, even brisk at times. Camera's that were higher end and well recognized have paid off for me. Prices are rising. I've supplemented my income, and lately my retirement nicely.

You sound like one smart cookie. Were you a business manager before you retired. 😀

The only thing I'd worry about is all those Ebay scammers I've been reading about. I'm almost afraid to sell anything on Ebay these days 🙁

Longer ago than you think!!

I started using eBay in the first year after it's startup. I decided my knowledge of film camera's could work for me.

It has. I specialized in all those closet camera's and bought like crazy. After a couple of years I started selling.

Lenses are selling well at good prices.... particularly those legacy lenses that people are using adaptors to use on Digital (mirrorless).

But for me, so many people are giving away (low prices or nothing) camera's that I can easily turn into money. And my feedback is 100% positive. The money is real. Just two more sales today.🙂
Aye, keep some for fellow forumers with a discount or reduced markup 😉 you know it'll go to a good home.

It really is. There are quite a few models where value has appreciated and on some specific one, just like talking about modern compacts, has soared crazily.

On the JCH news that did a roll on some sites, there were comments about the topic of contax T's. $250 in 2010 to a $1000 now is a crazy ROI.
I was speaking to a lab guy who is a wedding photog too and he mentioned that in 2010 too, Contax 645 kits in Spain were going for 600-1200€ and the used department of a camera store here just exported them to the US for double or triple the price, when they were picked up by wedding photogs for the now obiquitous look.

There was a mention of young asian demographic going over cult gear (remind me of someone around here 😀), plus some status enhancing events like a K-pop star showing a Contax.

I've seen quite a few film cameras in ads or placed rather anachronistically.

Point taken. Obviously, by posting two times on this thread, I have reinforced if not outright proven the validity of my point...

In my original comment (deleted), I had intended to add the line, "We should all be out and out, shooting pictures, instead of..." Well, you get the idea. I will be taking my own advice about this tomorrow, and be out and about in Taiping, Malaysia, from where I am writing this.

For anyone who is interested, please refer to the article in the travel section of the Guardian OL about Taiping. One of the world's last small slices of heaven on earth...
