Evil SLR repair. Canon EOS 10

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if you can help me. I got a Canon EOS 10 today in a car boot sale for £1. I popped a new battery in and the camera was working fine until i opened the build-in flash. A sign "bc" keeps blinking on the LCD panel and the camera is unresponsive. I removed the battery and popped it in but with no luck.
Is this a known issue with these cameras? Any suggestions/recommendations would be highly appreciated.

I 've just put the battery in another camera and it seems that it is empty. It completely drained it, it was a new battery...
