exakta lenses on 5D

A while ago I succumbed to gas and bought a Exakta VXiia after watching rear window one too many times. The lens I got with it is a Zeiss 50 f2 pancolar and its all very exciting and such but one thing that I would like to do with the whole thing is use the lens on my Canon 5D for kicks.

But....

I seem to have found that there are Exakta to EF mount adapters but then I found that there apparently was two different Exakta type mounts? One was the old one we all know and love from the likes of Rear Window and Joseph Kodeleka, then there was the later ones which were on cameras that said exakta and topcon and looked a lot like your typical 70's-80's camera.

Here on Taobao there are a lot of adapters like these and I am wondering if anyone can tell if this is the old or the new mount? But then there are these which look different!

I saw a very short thing online that said using an adapter with exakta lenses you would not have infinity focus, then another that said you would, then an add that said you would have to file away the shutter release nub to fit the lens on an adapter. So much jumbled information, hard for me to believe that no one here knows anything?

From what I remember reading, it's tricky to get Exakta lenses on EOS (adapters are not cheap either) because the register distance is so close, some can give you infinity focus, some won't.

I skipped the whole confusion by going another route. Konica AR. I got a Konica-made Exakta adapter (rare on the 'bay, but with patience...) and so far I get infinity focus with Exakta and Topcon lenses that I have.

I read around a bit about adapters a year or two ago and I think that there are some made in Russia that are supposed to be quite good, but that's about the extent of my knowledge on adapters. I was interested in Exakta to Nikon but was scared off by the talk of inaccurate infinity, I seem to remember that Canon users are in a better situation.
