It's come to my attention that I have yet to start a pointedly silly RFf thread, and I feel the need to get it out of my system. (Okay, "need" is a relative term here.) In a maneuver that is part community-spirited, and part CYA, I'm throwing open the chance for anyone else with some silly-but-nagging factoid they might be dying to let others in on, however much it might alter or damage their much-worked-upon Polished August Persona on this here site. I'm willing to "take one for the team" by starting off with one Highly Unimportant Bit of Opinion, followed by a Personally Important but Highly Trivial factoid.

Highly Unimportant Bit of Opinion:

Kevin Costner's semi-fu-manchu on the cover of the current AARP magazine looks so blindingly silly it could be used as grounds for divorce (again).

Personally Important but Highly Trivial factoid:

M & M's are now available in dark chocolate.

My B&H Photo Video Digital PHotography catalog arrived last week, and it's already dog-eared and well thumbed. Book-of-the-month! If it were available on Amazon, I would recommend it, but it's not, so I will.

Dunno. I spotted it in a local grocer's not an hour ago. Purple package, with "Ms. M" on the front. Haven't broken it open yet, but, as those crazy kids used to say, I'm stoked. 😎

must check this out as i understand dark chocolate is healthier than milk chocolate.

following the rule of Seven Degrees of Separation.. I'm not a fan of Costner, but the guy who built the canoe I just purchased , the Merrimack Souhegan, also built the canoe that Costner took his young bride for a paddle in directly after their wedding ceremony

(and the crowd says "big whoop")

Speaking of sports trivia: Galfriend's younger son just came back from tonight's Mets game, where he got a "Boycott Barry" sleep mask. Interesting choice of items to imprint that on. (And, even though they lost tonight...Go Mets!)

Hmm...have to make a note of that...

BTW: I cracked open the package an hour ago. Jolly, jolly good. Miles ahead of the milk-choc stuff. Hope they don't do with this what they did when they pleasantly surprised me with an ice-cream-bar version of their Milky Way Dark (a/k/a Midnight) bar, which I pronounced "crack on ice" – the stuff was that close to addictive. To which they responded by swiftly taking it off the market. Always seems to happen with something I become mad for.

Okay, I'll bite.

Terribly Unnecessary Bit of Personal Fact:

My B&H and KEH catalogs have a regular place of honor in the bathroom magazine-basket. Oh, and I have a bathroom magazine-basket.
