All;

I hope that this isn't a 'stupid' question, but I just installed a LTM to M adapter, (John Milich LTM-8 adapter), which brings up the 35mm framelines. I coded my Rollei 40mm F/2.8 Sonnar HFT as a Leica 35mm F2 Summicron Type IV (Pre ASPH). This is what I was sold by DAG (and others) to use.

I took a few shots and picked one to open in Photoshop CS4 ACR. When I went to File>File Info for the JPEG, it showed the camera as a Leica M8, and brought up the Shutter Speed, Aperture etc. and the lens as a 35mm.

When I opened the RAW image (DNG file), it brought up everything as above, plus the 'exact' coding, a Leica 35mm F2 Summicron Type 4.

Is this normal? Please educate me here. What is supposed to show up? Should the JPEG and DNG both be a bit different in the info that is read from the lens?

Thanks, Brad

I don't have Photoshop CS4, so I can't really comment on it. When I run exiftool on a DNG and compare it to an OOC JPEG the exif information is slightly differently. However the lens type is included in two different spots in both files. Once under "Leica" - "Lens Type" and a second time under "Composite" - "Lens ID". So it does seem a bit odd that Photoshop is showing you this entry on the DNG only.
