Experience with Nex 5N and & 7 & several lenses

This is a real useful information for me.
Recently I had just sold my M8 and was thinking whether I really made a good decision.
As I was also thinking hard of replacing it with the NEX 7 or Fuji Xpro1?

Well, I don't deny I still miss my M8.
And after reading the forum, I think I would be very excited to explore the Nex7.

Would the NEX be definitely better than the M8?

Why did you sell your M8? I just acquired a used M8 and finally understand the hype as well as criticisms of Fuji's offerings. The high ISO capability is excellent, quality is but a completely different experience.

Well, M8 is definitely a great camera to me, I have been taking wonderful shots with it.
It just that I miss shooting films therefore I would wanna go back to my M6 for awhile before deciding on the Nex 7 as I would want to try myself into video as well.

I don't know, maybe I make a mistake by selling my M8, because I am starting to think about it now already 🙁

Really enjoying my Nex7 with M lenses (1980's).
I have everything set to manual, so haven't had to do much menu diving at all.

Like some of you... I went directly from an M8 to a NEX -in particular, a 5n.

Personally, I have found it liberating. I just love the little thing!

I am with you. I would like to see some firmware improvements, but I am very happy with my NEX 7.

I only have My MP film cameras and I really like what I have read about the Nex7. I cannot afford a Leica M9 so it will have to be another makers digital body.

I have the Summicron 35 mm Asph the 50mm latest Summicron and 90mm Summicron APO as well as a older 135 Tele Elmar.

I really found the review great because it was from a photographer who actually uses the Nex cameras.

I shoot mainly people and situation scenes so I would like to hear some other views from owners of the Nex 7 who use Leica M glass especially the 35 mm Summicron Asph and the 90 mm APO lens because I do both colour and black and white.

I do know the 50 mm Summicron performs great on the Nex7

Regards Brian

90mm APO works great on a NEX-7, but I only have Zeiss glass for my 35mm. BTW.. The Zeiss E-Mount 24mm is a great lens and a 'G' zoom is coming.. yes a satanic zoom. I like focus peaking, but it isn't as reliable as a rangefinder in low light. The magnification function works well, but isn't as easy to use as a rangefinder. In bright light, I prefer focus peaking to a rangefinder in that you can focus and shoot rather than focus, recompose and shoot. The sensor is capable of showing off the quality of your lenses and I think that the NEX will only get better with time. That said, wait until after May 10th before doing anything.

Thanks BWColour for the helpful info but I like Jim are quite interested to know what happens on the 10th of May

Leica press conference with Big New Idea, resulting in temporarily paralysis of purchasing by some people until after they see what they might have wanted to buy if they'd waited. It could be an M11, or a mirrorless compact. . . . or a fancy new filter or lens cap concept. No one knows.

Just envision a bunch of Leica people with money in their pockets turning blue while holding collective breath. 🙂

OK I am with you now. Well I am in no rush to buy a NEX 7 so will wait the 3 days until then. Who knows they may have a mini M that takes M lenses for 2000 USD but I suppose elephants will fly before that happens.

I thought about it actually before I got your post and I presumed you meant folk who get paid on the first of each month spend a lot the first week so the best deals are to be found after the first 10 days. I lived in Denmark for many years and it holds very true there. You can always talk down the prices in the middle of the month.
