Check out my blog!!!
Hi there, I just raided the university medical darkroom and have found a completely unopned bottle of liquid agfafix. I would be a couple of years old now but I am wondering if the chemicals would still be good?

If it has not precipitated, it should be fine. Acidic B&W speed fixer is easy to test - if it degrades, crystals or a white or yellowish gunk precipitate. But even then, it would still be active as long as a bit of film leader clears in working dilution within less than half the fixing time stated on the bottle or the spec sheet - it is no good idea to fix in muddy fixer nonetheless, as some of it may show up as dirt in the prints...

If there are too much white deposits inside, just use a paper coffee filter to remove them. It should work fine. I used last year 1987 unopened bottles of Ilford Hypam Fixer without any troubles, both on films and paper.
